The Waller-Prairie View Ministerial Alliance and others in the Christian community have for some time been concerned about better ways to serve those who need help in our community. Pastors, church staff, volunteers and other organizations often find themselves attempting to make decisions about the needs of different individuals and families without having the time or staffing to fully evaluate the situation. Many congregations simply do not have the resources to help those outside their own church families.

Waller Assistance and Restoration Ministries, Inc. (W.A.R.M.), a non-profit corporation, has been formed by local Christian leaders and through the merger of two long-standing Christian Outreach Ministries in the community of Waller – the Waller Pantry and Closet which was formed out of the Ministerial Alliance in 1986 and the Mission Closet which was in ministry since 1985 out of the Waller Baptist Church.

All concerned parties desire to cooperate in a Christ-centered approach to provide emergency assistance and restoration for those in need. After much prayer and discussion with similar organizations both inside and outside our community, we believe the consolidation of this effort is of great benefit to those in need in our community and to those who have desired to communicate Christ’s love through acts of giving and serving.

May we rediscover the foundation of God’s Mercy Store which existed in Waller from 1915 to 1965 and was claimed to have been established “by the spirit of Christ which is love, mercy and self-denial.”* We believe we are entering a “new season” in the local Christian community in which our Lord Jesus is calling us to greater levels of cooperation and unity.

Food Pantry

Families receive supplemental food and personal care item assistance through W.A.R.M. The food is purchased with proceeds from W.A.R.M. Treasures Thrift Shop at the area Food Bank or received through local donations.

Managing a small income can be hard and requires a great deal of self-discipline. Practical suggestions are offered and goals are set for managing finances. Donated clothing is offered to qualified families at the W.A.R.M. assistance office.

Emergency Assistance

Often families are in danger of homelessness due to sudden emergency or job loss. The W.A.R.M. office interviewers and home visit teams meet with people who need temporary financial assistance to ascertain need and offer resources. Appointments are made through the W.A.R.M. office.

Referral Program

Families with additional needs are referred to qualified agencies specializing in:

• Budget Counseling
• Career Counseling
• Medical Assistance
• Marriage and Family Counseling
• Domestic Abuse Center
• Sexual Assault Center
• Homeless Shelter

How to Help

• Shopping at W.A.R.M. Treasures Thrift Shop
• Giving a monthly or one-time monetary gift
• Volunteer your time, talent, and/or services as an individual or as part of a group
• Donating food to the W.A.R.M. assistance office
• Donating clean clothing, furniture and other essential needs to W.A.R.M. Treasures Thrift Shop in the Waller Village Shopping Center
• Telling others about W.A.R.M. and the services provided
• Becoming a W.A.R.M. Prayer Partner
• Hosting a gathering to present W.A.R.M. to others who share the vision

Special Donation Items

Large items such as vehicles, lawn equipment, farm equipment, appliances, etc., are accepted at W.A.R.M. For your convenience, please call to arrange a donation pick-up.

W.A.R.M. is a Texas not-for-profit corporation with its Federal Internal Revenue Services (IRS) 501c3 status pending.
